Bangamata Begum Mujib's kitchen
The kitchen of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa is situated in the ground floor to the north of Bangabandhu Bhaban. The kitchen is not connected to the main building, but it is adjacent to the building. Bangamata Begum Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib lived in first floor so she made a separate staircase to travel to this kitchen. Begum Mujib used to come down from the stairs and cooked for all the family members, relatives and political workers. When there was no gas in the house (gas connection was given in the middle of 1974.) Bangmata used to cook with the heat of fuel wood stove. He liked to cook and loved to feed people. The politicians of that time rarely came back without being fed. Today, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib is not present among us, but his kitchen and his used herbs, basil, pitcher, and other tools are being displayed for the visitors.
